Mugello, a land full of attractions, offers also the opportunity to visit some museums, heritage of its long history.
Here below we give you a list of the museums in each district.
Museo della Manifattura Chini - Museum
of the Chini Manufactures
Villa Pecori Giraldi
In 1906 Galileo Chini and his cousin Chino, founded in Borgo
San Lorenzo "San Lorenzo Furnaces", a firm producing
vases, modern objects and glass products. Many elements adorning
churches pievi and palaces in this area has been produced by
this firm: many decoration in liberty style were in fact, designed
and realized by "Furnaces" placed in the palace where
today has seat the municipal district.
Nowadays the Museum of the Chini Manifactures has seat in Villa
Pecori Giraldi and it is open to the public.

Grezzano
The museum houses a particular permanent exhibition of objects
and environments connected with the rural life in the last century.
It is possible to observe the reconstruction of certain environments,
there are sections with means of transport, tools or work materials,
all supplied with photografic and written documentation. Furthermore
an interesting complement of this museum is the external route.

- Museum of the historical landscape of the Appenines
Abbey of Moscheta
This museum has been mainted with the exact intent of showing
how the relationship between natural environment and human action
has changed with the time, and how human installations have
changed the landscape of the Appennines, which has been and
it is still a passing land.

Museo della Pietra Serena - Museum of the " Pietra
Serena"
The Rocca
The Rocca in Firenzuola, is the seat of the municipal administration,
it houses this museum, mainted to show the historical importance
of this material for the town: inside, it is in fact possible
to observe manufactures and daily use objects, next to images
of the excavation process and images of the pietra serena processing,
before the advent of excavation machines and pneumatic tools.

Mostra archeologica permanente - Archaeological
museum
Palazzo dei Capitani
This museum testifies the remote past of this land, illustrating
human evolution from the somatic and cultural point of view.
It is an interesting leap in the past among the evidences of
the most ancient human installations in the most inaccessible
areas of High Mugello.

Palazzo dei capitani
In the Palazzo dei Capitani, which houses the Archeological
Museum, has seat this interesting exposition of every day use
objects, religious and working objects, such as sacred images
and crucifixes, testifing farmers' and craftmen's lives in Palazzuolo.

Leprino - Crafts and Farming in S.Agata by Leprino
Polyvalent Center– Sant’Agata
In this place you will find an exact reproduction of Saint Agata's
world, today lost but made alive by a number of characters created
by Faliero Lepri's talent (called Leprino).
Go and discover the inhabitant's roots.

di Sant'Agata - Sant'Agata centre of archaelogical documentation
Pieve of Sant'Agata's cloister
The exposition is articulated on the numerous reports found
in the area of west Mugello, from the paleolithic to the modern
period. The exhibition is conceived according to didacting principles
and it is supplied with a rich iconographical device and with
objects and environments reconstructions, as a prehistoric installation
recreated in the area next to the exposition.

Raccolta d'arte sacra- Collection of sacred art
Sant'Agata - S.Jacopo's Company
This exposition is in S. Jacopo's oratory, a building placed
on the left side of the pieve of S. Agata. Inside there are
ancient pictures and sculptures, among which there are the wooden
tabernacle by Bicci di Lorenzo, a polychromic terra-cotta by
Giovanni della Robbia and a Master of Signa's table. The exposition
prosegues in the sacristy where there are liturgical ornaments.

Il museo dei ferri taglienti - The Museum of cutting
knives
Palazzo dei Vicari
In this museum there is a collection of knives, supplied with
documents, to give visitors an historical excursus of this object
production. In Scarperia this is a tradition with ancient roots:
in fact this town is now famous for knives production, but tools
have been produced from the 15th century. The knife shop in
via Solferino is a part of the museum, here it is possible to
follow the stages of knife artigianal work.

Museo di arte sacra e religiosità
popolare - Museum of Sacred Art and Popular Devoutness
Beato Angelico
This museum exhibits sacred objects collected in the churches
of this area toward the end of the Sixties, when the abandonment
of churches follow the abandonment of the farmers' houses, in
a period characterized by a sharecropping system. Inside it
is possible to observe also the sacred drawing and ornaments,
which testify the history of religion in this area during the
last century and some archeologigal reports found in Poggio
Colla.

Casa natale di Giotto - Giotto's Birthplace
Vespignano
Giotto, the great artist, was born in Vicchio. He is celebrated
by a permanent exhibition of works reproductions, mainted in
the same place where he was born.
